This year Interpeace celebrates its 20th anniversary with a range of activities around the world. Interpeace was created in 1994 as a United Nations pilot project to assist the international community and national actors to better respond to challenges of countries emerging from violent conflict. The organization has since developed and expanded around the world. In over twenty contexts, from Timor-Leste to Guatemala to Burundi, Interpeace and its local partners are bringing together the different levels and sectors within communities to address obstacles to peace.
Interpeace will be highlighting a variety of activities it has planned around the world throughout the year.
Raising the flag for peace
Flags with the Interpeace logo and the word "peace" in the six official United Nations languages written on them will be flying on the Mont-Blanc Bridge in Geneva from 26th-30th May. The flags symbolize our twenty year commitment to supporting efforts to build peace around the world.
If you happen to be in Geneva and catch a glimpse of the Interpeace flags take a photo and share it with us on social media using #FlagsForPeace.
